Finally taking the time to rip my vinyl collection to iTunes. I don’t have much vinyl, there are so many problems with the format (surface noise, incomplete fill, inner groove distortion, etc), but I do buy vinyl when it’s the only place to hear certain songs.
Here are the first few titles I’ve “needledropped” (it is to vinyl as “rip” is to CDs). A unique mono mix of The Smashing Pumpkins’ album Adore (Billy Corgan personally remixed the entire album to mono for the vinyl release, this new unique mix is not available anywhere else), 7” single versions of multiple songs, a few vinyl-only bonus tracks that were left off CD releases, vinyl-exclusive b-sides, etc.
Everything was captured losslessly and was run through declicking software so it all sounds as clean as any CD tracks I own. I even made a template for creating the cover art so I could easily pick out the vinyl rips when browsing iTunes.
Having a lot of fun being able to put some of these songs on repeat for the first time.
