I found a nerdfighter note in a TFiOS at Powell’s Books in downtown Portland! It’s the first time I’d ever found one in the wild, and all I was doing was pulling it off the shelf to show a friend (who ended up buying Looking for Alaska “to start from the beginning”). Score!

I just video chatted with John Green to show him the empty TFioS box sets. UPS dropped them off ten minutes ago. Now to stuff these with the CD and postcard bundles Kristen and I have been assembling over the last week.

The Fault In Our Packing

I only have about 500 packs of TFioS discs left to assemble, so we’re in the home stretch!

One thing I want to say before we send these out… There are seven different discs, four different postcards, a ticket stub, a wrist band and a piece of styrofoam in each and every one of these 3,000 box sets. There is a very good chance that at least a couple boxes will miss a CD, or one of the postcards, or we’ll skip a wristband.

We haven’t noticed any of these mistakes yet, but there’s bound to be one or two.

IF your box has two Disc 3s, or no DVD, or whatever… please just send us a nice email about it and we’ll be more than happy to make it right. Kristen and I are assembling these by hand, we’re both human, we both make mistakes. They are not intentional. We did print a few extras of each item just in case. We WILL make it right, DFTBA always does. Just stay calm and email us. =)

Okay, that’s all, back to the packing table.

Yay, Kristen and I get to spend the next two weeks assembling 3,000 CD and postcard sets and then building boxes and stuffing said CD and postcard sets into those boxes. Happy new year…?

my friend made a thing!

You’ve probably heard of John Green’s upcoming book, The Fault In Our Stars. It comes out in January. John loves to read his new books on blogtv and youtube, but no matter how much we all beg and plead, he’s never recorded his own audiobook in his voice.

That changes this January with The Fault In Our Stars Audiobook Box Set. This box set is limited to only 3,000 copies and is available exclusively from DFTBA Records. There will be no digital version of this released anywhere, these 3,000 copies are it.

The box set includes John reading the book (6 CDs), a DVD of videos by John, a Hectic Glow wristband, a Hectic Glow concert ticket, and numerous postcards from locations in the book.

There will be a second audiobook released for The Fault In Our Stars for Audible and Amazon, but that one will be read by a female narrator.

This is DFTBA’s first Box Set, first Audiobook, and a new direction for authors that we’re all really excited about. DFTBA has, for a while, wanted to work more with/for authors with dedicated fan bases, offering products that major publishers couldn’t, or don’t want to (like Maureen Johnson’s magnet sets). This is an awesome first step in that process, and I hope we’ve put together a package the hardcore John Green fans will love.

The Fault In Our Stars Audiobook Box Set is available now for pre-order. Shipping January 10, 2012.
